MAAT

Beer,Bar-B-Cue,and Watermelon..It's The Fourth Of July

Well it finally got here. That great day in which we can break out the grill, ice down the keg and celebrate "Our Freedom and Independence " from Britain. What? In 1776 how many Africans in America became free? Answer: NONE ..Lets' not get truth and facts mixed up with our illusions and lies that we thrive on. In other words fiction and fairy tales. Hell, I like beer, watermelon, and bar-b-cue too. What I really wanted to put on your mind during this festive weekend was a clip that I saw on 'You Tube' video search. This young brother reminded me of another conscious brother who was murdered in the land of liberty about 40yrs. ago while I was in Viet Nam named Fred Hampton of the Black Panther Party. This young brother sounds like a reincarnation with the same wisdom and love for his people. The physical resemblance and voice is uncanny also. Those of you who can push away from the table and are not to groggy from that greasey meat and beer can enjoy listening to a "New"version of Brother Fred Hampton. If the video skips hit pause for a minute so that it can load properly. Enjoy and become wiser. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ8yvAiDd-M

Excellent clip Brother MAAT. KRS-One has been a voice of the people for quite some time. He has a very enlightening CD from back in the day that speaks truth, I have it in my collection and must get it to you. The brother he spoke about, Kevin Powell, also edited a book called "The Blackmale Handbook". Which I have suggested on this site as a must read for those in need of a foundational piece of study material. It's much like the "Browder Files" (essay type). But filled with thoughtful analogies of the goals that we as Black men should be undertaking. But you know the old adage, "you want to hide something from a Black person, put it in a book." But you've made it easy, you give video clips, so hopefully some are getting the message of hope and love, for OUR people first, that you're conveying through your post.

Keep doing the work of a prophet my brother, if one life is changed because of your efforts, your work is not in vain.
